Moss - Where Flowers are Fair

Moss home and garden shop sits at the corner of the Market at Crossing shopping center in Tyler, TX.  It's a very different take on a florist shop.  They like to favor the unusual plants and flowers not seen too often in your average florist.  Succulents such as cactus get a fair shake in this boutique.  There's also plenty to choose from for home decor.

Riverside Fly Shop, Walker County, AL

Brandon Jackson owns and runs Riverside Fly Shop near Jasper, AL, along with his wife and father and dog Zucker.  We had a beautiful morning of fly fishing, followed by conversation by the fire, and fly tying back at the shop.

U.S. Coast Guard

I was so impressed by these people and the stories they told about the Coast Guard base in Elizabeth City, NC.  These Rescue Swimmer classes start out with about 24 students, and only approximately 4 or 5 will actually graduate.   I know if I am ever in danger on the open seas that I will be in the best hands to save my life.  It was an honor to get to photograph this facility.

Elizabeth City, NC

Beautiful Elizabeth City sits on the Inner Banks on the coast of North Carolina.  Great place to take in a sunrise.

It's also a beautiful city if  you're looking for a location for your wedding.  Have the ceremony right on the waterfront.

Wolfe Orchard, Monticello, IL

One of the most rewarding parts of this job are the people you meet along the way.  I could not have enjoyed my time more at Wolfe Orchard.  Not only was it a gorgeous day for picking and sampling apples, but Ronald and Hope Wolfe are two of the most welcoming people I have ever met.  If you ever have a craving for apples driving through Illinois, stop in at the Wolfe Orchard and you'll be treated like family.

Enjoying the Great Outdoors in Roanoke Rapids

If you're a person who loves the smell of fresh air, look no further than the riverside city of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. In my short time there, I saw amply opportunities to get a lot of great exercise, and experience what nature has to offer.

At the Sylvan Heights Bird park, visitors get the opportunity to feed and look at birds from all over the world. Along the many points on the Roanoke River, visitors enjoy excellent fishing opportunities, by boat or by shore. And all along the river are miles of nature trails, accessible to any explorer looking for a afternoon job or a weekend safari!

A Downtown with a Whole Lot to Love

Columbia, Tennessee, in Maury County has been improving its downtown offerings for some time now, and it's always great to see a success story in action. With it's cozy used bookstore, delicious restaurant offerings, and scenic views, Columbia is a great place to spend some time.

It's a Jonesborough Thing

You never know what you're going to see in your random small town in these great United States. I was pleasantly surprised with the welcomed me at Jonesborough, a short 20 minutes drive from Johnson City. It's also about an hour and a half from Knoxville, TN and Asheville, NC.

In addition to being home to the International Storytelling Center, Jonesborough is home to numerous tourist and retail attractions that make it a great destination for a Bed and Breakfast escape or day trip.

Nashville, Tennessee Skyline

After a long day of rain, the sky opened up long enough for me to capture a few skyline photos of downtown Nashville. I was fortunate enough to grab this shot right at sunset, just as the storm clouds turned to a brilliant purple color.

Fargo - not what you expect

Fargo was a city that totally surprised me.  With a quaint little downtown, art-house theatre, and some modern sculptures, it impressed me with its culture.  It also gave a nod to its art deco architectural past.  Gorgeous weather, plenty of bike trails, there's plenty to do and see in Fargo.

Fort Worth

With plenty of public art and lots of locally owned restaurants, Fort Worth, Texas, quickly became one of my favorite cities.  If you're looking for culture wrapped up in a beautiful locale, Fort Worth is your place.  Photos include the award-winning dishes of Winslow's Wine Cafe, lunch at the Magnolia Cheese Company, a pedestrian in Burnett park, and the Fort Worth skyline at night.
